On the heels of a national survey sponsored by Rasmussen Reports, the Chariho (Rhode Island) School Committee has rejected a proposal to survey parents on the use of school restrooms.  The article linked to below does not mention if committee members provided explanations for their opposition, but it does note that currently decisions are made on a case-by-case basis by the student, family and school administration.  There’s no mention if committee members were opposed to the idea of the survey or the proposed survey questions, which seem overly verbose and confusing. The article linked to below includes the full text of the proposed survey questions.

Schools in Rhode Island will need to sort this issue out themselves as they await a statewide policy from the Rhode Island Department of Education, which is currently reviewing the new federal guidelines.
